Convenience of Storing Web Content as PDF Files

If you have tried converting a website to PDF files, you would have had to convert the entire site page by page. With the new version of Acrobat, it is now possible to convert entire websites into PDF files allowing you to easily store and archive web content.

If you have been working with websites as a graphic designer, instructor, web developer or an archiver, you would know the challenges in archiving web content. While saving pure content as electronic documents is not difficult, saving the content along with the navigational design and other features is not easy. Adobe Acrobat PDF did offer one solution – one could convert each page of a website into a PDF document. This way one could retain most of the design features of the site as well as store the web content. PDF documents also allowed bookmarking, allowing users to quickly go to the page they desired and easy search facilities to look up information in seconds. With good PDF backup and PDF recovery tools available, there is now greater reason to work with webpages in the PDF format.

Websites are useful for imparting information in different ways – an instructor may use a website to share course information as well as to offer presentations online; a marketing professional might use the product information contained on the corporate website to give more details to a customer audience and a site designer might use a website prototype to present various features. However, it is not always possible to ensure that there is Internet connectivity at the place the presentation is taking place or during a live presentation. It is therefore always a good idea to be prepared with the PDF versions of the website that contains the information you need to present your audience with.

The main problem with converting a website to the PDF version has been the long process that it usually involves. Previous versions of Adobe Acrobat only allowed a page-by-page conversion of a website which meant long hours in converting a large website. However, with the latest version of Adobe Acrobat, it is now possible to convert all the pages of a website, however large it might be very quickly and to the link-depth that you choose. Further, with specialized PDF recovery tools also available, it is possible to take adequate steps to protect the information stored in these documents.

When you install the Pro version of Adobe Acrobat, the application does place a ‘Conversion’ button on the browser. This helps you to quickly capture a few pages from the website that you are browsing and convert them into a PDF file. You can save as many pages as you want from the website by simply choosing ‘Add Web Page to Existing PDF’. On the other hand, if you would like to save an entire website in the PDF format, you could open Acrobat 9 itself and from the File Menu, choose ‘Create PDF’. This will allow you to convert the entire website into PDF format. You can thus manage the content of the website very easily through the PDF files. Not only that, using powerful third-party tools such as DataNumen PDF Repair that can scan and restore data from corrupt or damaged PDF files, it is possible to have a quick and efficient PDF recovery, ensuring integrity of the data.
